When I was five years old, the bishop stood over me and said, "Stop babbling about what Father Horne did to you." I kept the secret for 40 years. Today, I babble. - ke

PROOF: Letters re Problem Priests at Paracletes, NM, reveal bishops dealt with pedophilia in priesthood, and destroyed files, regularly and secretly,

TAKE A DEEP BREATH before you read this one. At Right: September 23, 1957 letter from Bishop of Manchester to Gerald Fitzgerald, director of Via Coeli: You can tell by the tone this is an ongoing conversation back and forth between the two, discussion of problem pedophile priests, an ongoing conversation that Fitzgerald had with numerous bishops as he traveled the country explaining the work at Via Coeli.

In the letter Bishop Mathew Brady writes that Fr. John Sullivan’s problem “is not drink but a series of scandal-causing escapades with young girls.” Sullivan is known all over the diocese and Brady is at a loss of where to send him.

Brady writes that the solution to the Sullivan problem “seems to be a fresh start in some diocese where he is not known.”

Sullivan wants to send Sullivan to Via Coeli for a little R&R and then have Father Gerald recommend a new parish.

Here is what it says in the database at bishop accountability dot org about John T. Sullivan:

Accused of Abuse of Girls. Manchester NH. Source: Associated Press 4.27.03

Hmm, not much. Where is he now?

==============

By 1989 the new secular psychology techniques that founder Gerald Fitzgerald abhorred and did not want at Via Coeli, had taken hold. In this letter (scanned in at right, click to enlarge), the new director, Liam Hoare describes the priests’ treatment.

Also, here’s proof that church hierarchy systematically destroyed documents about pedophile priests On Page 2 of Feb1989ltrLiamToArizona linked at right it states (document at right click to enlarge):

“Once again, I wish to note that under our present legal advisement, we must ask that once these documents have been read, please DESTROY THEM OR RETURN THEM TO ME AND I WILL SO TO THEIR DISPOSAL (Hoare’s emphasis)

In addition, this one letter regards their current patient, Fr. George Bredermann of Phoenix.

Here is what it says in Bishopaccountability about George Brederman:

Attended 3 seminaries; one said he should never be a priest. Former executive for the Boy Scouts. He abused 15 boys before becoming a priest and at least 8 after. Arrested 1988. Sentenced 1 yr jail in 1989 and lifetime probation (after intervention by Bishop O'Brien). Victims were 8, 10 and 14 yrs old. Arrested in Miami attempting to flee to Brazil. Sentenced to 45 years. Civil suits filed in 1990 and 1992; settled 1991 & 1994. Bishop knew of past allegations prior to ordination. Laicized 2003.

Here is what the 1989 Liam Letter says about Bredermann’s treatment at Via Coeli:

“George experienced initial difficulty in being a part of the Group. He was also under much pressure from a scheduled Pre-Trial Hearing.

“His denial of possible legal consequences resulting from the felony charges is unrealistic. With regard to the therapeutic process, George needs to deal with: Anger and Authority Issues.”

READ: BishopAccountability’s summary of George Bredermann’s career, and here he is in these secluded relaxing sessions dealing with “Anger and Authority Issues”

More from Page 2 of “This procedure is mandated by concern for the welfare of the individual, the Boshops/Superiors. Dioceses/Communities and our Program.”

More about destroying documents on pedophile priests, from Page 2 of the 1989 Liam letter above, “This procedure is mandated by concern for the welfare of the individual, the Boships/Superiors, Dioceses/Communities and our Program.”

“The first week of the program consists of each man presenting his autobiography to the entire Module and naming what he considers to be the Presenting Issue/Issues. This is indeed a ‘moment of truth’ with all the concomitant emotions. The result however is rewarding as it facilitated candor and bonding within the group and a deep awareness of the wounded-state of all.”

Q: All right, as you sit here today, are you aware of any Salesian priest or brother ever being referred to the Servants of the Paraclete?
A: Yes.

Q: Can you tell me what decade that individual was at the Servants of the Paracletes?
A: There was one in Jemez when I was a novice in 1970 and there was one in St. Louis when I was there in the

'90s and there was one in Jemez that I -- those are the three I remember.
Q: But he predated 1970, correct?
A: Yes.
Page 83-84, the witness is quick to answer that

the priest was treated for schizophrenia, no objection from the church attorney.

However, when asked (p. 83 continued), "Do you know whether he had been accused at any time of having had sexual contact with children or teenagers?

CHURCH ATTORNEY JUMPS IN:

Objection. Lacks foundation, calls for speculation, hearsay and violation of the psychotherapy and clergy privileges and right to privacy.

Five grounds for objection.

But the church attorney had no problem with the witness saying the priest was schizophrenic. In that release of information that the priest had a major mental illness, no privacy violation in the preceding question, just the one about child molesting.

Church attorneys should be disbarred, the way they twisted law for archdioceses.

In God's Name Get This Man Laicized:
------------------------

August 1960 letter (right)
to "Very Reverend Provincial"

QUOTES:

“In God’s Name, get this man laicized as quickly as possible.”

“Men who sin repeatedly with little children certainly fall under the classification of those who ‘it were getter had they not been born.’

“As a layman, the civil authorities will make short work of his activity and place him in the protective custody that his type merit.

“As there are many little children in this Canyon, where I am the shepherd of souls, I could not in conscience consider receiving him here.”

ARTICLE 1950s shows in house publications reported on the Servants. AND another common theme, the Servants DID NOT go to the laity for support. The Laity did not konw about the Servants, but the Bishops and Cardinals were Very Aware of Via Coeli and what type of priests were sent
